I think it's you who shouldn't take me so lightly! Listen to me, Kaoru. I became a doctor to help as many people as possible to atone for the sins I've committed. This is the path I chose to live and Sir Ken was the person who showed me this path I've chosen to follow. It's all because of what he said to me. So, no matter what the future holds in store for me and even if Sir Ken is no longer with us, I plan to walk the path of medicine. I'm doing everything I possibly can to deal others and that's how much I truly care about Kenshin. How dare you mock my feelings when you're doing nothing but acting like a brat! If it was true, back then wouldn't you have done something to protect me from everything that happened? If what you've been saying truly is correct then why didn't you protect me? Nobody helped me! Back then, you didn't protect me! Soujiro Seta: I know of two men who were walking down the same path at the same point in the past and it took that long for them to reach opposite truths. So, I was thinking I might be able to find my own truth if I spend ten years wandering. Seijuro Hiko: Because you've slain so many people, you don't even value your own life. That's what allows the manslayer's heart that lies deep within your true heart to take over your soul. Even if you use the power of that manslayer for a self-sacrificing purpose such as protecting those you love or the weak, it's still only one tiny pebble in the never-ending river of time. Before we begin there's one thing I need to say. If you do manage to learn this final technique, you will, in effect, gain a strength that will equal my own. But, don't let it go to your head! Times have changed and you can no longer afford to put everything on your own shoulders and be the only sacrifice. Even the happiness of one person is complicated these days. If you should fall as a sacrifice, the young lady who came to Kyoto with the one wish of seeing you will, without a doubt, be devastated by that loss. Think about it! No matter how powerful you become, you're still just a human being. Do not ever try to become something more than that.
