After a chance encounter at a club the struggling actress Baby decides to move in with Maria, a withdrawn divorcee who is having financial troubles and run-ins with the maffia. By accident the two women overhear a conversation in which a man confesses committing a robbery to his girlfriend. The two women decide to blackmail him for a piece of the action. Baby finds out that Maria and her brother Johnny are having problems dealing with rent, and debts. So she decides that they should rob a bank, which is unacceptable to Maria. They overhear a conversation about a robbery, and find out who the thief is, and decide to blackmail him. But things don't go as planned, and the hapless duo find themselves in even more hot water.
