      香港嘉禾公司在八十年代初欲进军国际影坛，并趁机推销旗下两大明星成龙与许冠文，乃投资拍摄了这部大堆头的赛车动作片。挂头牌的是当时走红的伯特．雷诺兹、罗杰．摩尔、迪安．马丁及小山姆．戴维斯，导演是《追追追》的哈尔．尼达姆。剧情描述一群来自世界各地的赛车手，参加一场由美国东岸横跨至西岸的非法赛车，各选手勾心斗角力求得胜。因其中有反对此项赛车的人掳走政客助理为人质，导致警方追查，全体选手乃合力突破警方路障。成龙与许冠文饰演其中的日本选手，有一些功夫和搞笑表演，整体说来堪称热闹，但结构未免松散，人物也表面化。 "制片人要求佐治亚州长封闭一个小镇以便一架飞机能够降落其中。当地警察封闭了该城市中心，细心的观众不难发现背景中还有警察用于封闭的障碍物。影片中使用的法拉利308是导演Hal Needham的私家车。Hal Needham和Brock Yates驾驶参赛的救护车也是真实的。成龙在此片中饰演了一个小角色，当他得知自己要演的角色是一个日本人而不是中国人时差点栽倒。在这部片子里我们每次见到Roger Moore出场时他都有不同的美女做伴，这些美女均由June Foray配音。在第一条高速公路上迫使Adrienne Barbeau和Tara Buckman把车停靠在路边的巡警是Burt Reynold的替身，其长相几乎与Burt Reynold无异。.本片是根据由Brock Yates的杂志""Car & Driver""举办的真实车赛编撰。该赛事共举办过五次，最后一届在1978年举行。Yates和导演Hal Needham驾驶救护车在影片里真实出演，饰演救护车上的病人的是Yate的妻子Pamela。他们一路经过Cabazon， California， 最后到达Redondo Beach。特技表演者Heidi Von Beltz在驾车作特技动作时（Roger Moore双倍速度驾车一段）由于特技车失控而发生了碰撞，车上其他人受轻伤，但Heidi从此下身瘫痪。本片最初计划为Steve McQueen量身定制的动作片，在McQueen逝世后，制片决定将本片改为由Burt Reynolds出演的喜剧片。"
