Bojangles (2001)

剧情

英文简短剧情: This biography of African-American William "Bojangles" Robinson (Gregory Hines) explores his earliest roots as a street performer much against his grandmother's wishes, his rise in vaudeville overcoming racial barriers, and then conquering additional racial barriers in Hollywood. Known to the general public as the smiling, tap-dancing sidekick of Shirley Temple in many of her movies, Bill Robinson nevertheless fought many prejudices in his rise. In 1913, he became the first black man to perform solo on stage in front of a white audience. Forced to initially perform in black face, his popularity led to a Canadian tour without the make-up. From there, he moved to Hollywood where he was promised major movie leads to promote segregation, but was repeatedly given the Shirley Temple roles. Through his demands, roles for blacks opened up. In between, Bill was a womanizer and gambler, constantly blowing all of his earnings and staying one step ahead of his creditors. In later years, during the civil rights movements, his earlier caricatures haunted him as civil rights movements leaders disdained him for their perception of his smiling "Tom" roles. Peter Riegert co-stars as Bill's long-time friend and manager, who gave up managing the Marx Brothers and Will Rogers to concentrate on Bill's career. Maria Ricossa also stars as Bill's loving, but frequently besieged wife. Savion Glover appears briefly late in the film and does a tremendous tap dance number for the aging Bojangles. Also be sure to watch the end credits as Gregory Hines' choreography on a routine is screened opposite Bojangles' original steps.中文剧情:
