      比利·怀尔德导演跟沃尔特·马修、杰克·莱蒙这个喜剧铁三角合作的最后一部作品，也是根据这个卖座名剧拍摄而成的第三个电影版本，维持了在流畅故事中互相戏谑逗笑风格，娱乐效果不俗。这一次马修饰演报社的新闻版主编，莱蒙是他手下的王牌记者。这一天莱蒙正要离开芝加哥到纽约去跟他的女友展开新生活，但临时发生了一宗政治丑闻，马修用尽各种方法来挽留莱蒙采访这段新闻。整个情节就在两人的拉扯之间来表现报界中人对突发新闻的停不了的热爱心理，由此延伸了互相勾心斗角，你躲我寻的游戏。演员的表现相当生动，某些处境喜剧的场面设计具有爆笑效果。
