      拍摄过《群众》的金·维多导演了这部《太阳下的决斗》，本片又被译为《太阳浴血记》，是由畅销书作家尼文布克的原著小说改编而成。本片描述的是一对兄弟自相残杀的故事，情节曲折，在手法上未多加修饰，只是一般的叙事风格，但是在故事情节上却让人觉得有些不可思议。尽管金·维多才华横溢，但本片却未能凭借其凄美的故事打动观众的心灵，反而被观众在摄影、表演、对白以及服装等各方面挑出各种毛病。本片之所以有名，与女权主义电影理论家和导演劳拉·穆尔维有关，在她的《视觉快感与叙事电影》一文受到各方批评时，她以此片作为例子重申了她的观点。
