Paolo, a depressed playwright moves to a house which has been rented by his father Carlo as well, without each knowing about the other. Neither he or Carlo want to leave and so they begin an awkward cohabitation. Carlo is worried about his son's depression and gets him a girlfriend Benedetta. The girl however falls in love with the more interesting Carlo.
